Terms of Service

Last updated: July 16, 2026

This is placeholder legal content for Broke? while the product is in closed beta. Broke? is currently the operator named for these terms; this should be updated when a formal legal entity exists.

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using Broke?, including the mobile app, website, beta features, AI assistant, transaction sync, or Splits features, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use Broke?.

2. Description of service

Broke? is a personal finance app for India. It helps users track spending, categorize transactions from SMS and optional Gmail transaction emails, set budgets, understand spending patterns, use Splits, and receive nudges from Macha, the app's AI money assistant.

Broke? is currently in closed beta. Features may be incomplete, experimental, unavailable, or changed without notice.

Macha's suggestions, comments, forecasts, and nudges are informational only. They are not financial, legal, tax, investment, credit, lending, or professional advice. You remain responsible for your own financial decisions.

3. User responsibilities

You are responsible for providing accurate information, reviewing transaction classifications, checking budgets and split amounts, and deciding whether to act on app insights. Broke? may misread messages, miss transactions, duplicate transactions, or categorize transactions incorrectly.

You are responsible for keeping your phone, Google account, app access, and authentication methods secure. Do not use Broke? for unlawful activity or to access another person's data without permission.

4. Beta and testing disclaimer

During closed beta, Broke? is provided for testing and feedback. We do not guarantee uptime, uninterrupted service, data availability, message parsing accuracy, AI response quality, or compatibility with every bank, email format, device, or operating system.

Features may change, be limited, or be removed. Beta access may be paused or revoked if needed to protect users, investigate issues, or operate the service.

5. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Broke? will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, financial opportunity, or savings arising from your use of the service.

Broke? is not responsible for bank errors, missed transactions, incorrect classifications, user-entered information, split disputes, AI-generated suggestions, third-party service outages, or financial decisions made based on app content.

6. Termination

You may stop using Broke? at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms, create risk for other users or the service, misuse beta features, or if continued operation becomes impractical.

Termination does not automatically delete all data. Data deletion is handled under the Privacy Policy and applicable law.

7. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict of law principles. Courts located in India will have jurisdiction over disputes unless applicable law requires otherwise.
